Apart from the failed Bennell experiment I don't think Freo has done a hell of lot wrong recruitment wise in recent years but I won't indulge you with the details because I'm sure you will all find some way to put a negative slant on that anyway. Air must be a bit thin at the top.

Just on draft picks----surely  one of the most sought after people a club requires, is a top talent spotter that see things others don't, regards ability & character and  after a few years,of proven success, that clubs would be just as keen to employ him as they would a top coach....

Always heard west coast had a state team, but the person who was responsible for the 1989 draft was Moylan ? V;K.----sure knew what he was looking at pick 64---tony evans----- 91--- brett heady----112 Ashley Mcintosh-------117 Dean Kemp. throw in peter Matera at no 4 pick...theres the nucleus of two premierships, all the clubs skipped over some of those players 4 or more times.. was he lucky or verygood  at it,,,,Freo can't even get recycled players right.
Mick Moylan was their Recruiting Manager back in 89 STG but Trevor Nisbett who had been appointed the WCE Football Manager just before that draft would have played a big part in the selections of Heady & Kemp as he was Football Manager at Subiaco when those 2 came through the ranks there.

Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe said he wasn't consulted about RTB sacking . Excuse me Nat but your the captain your job is to play footy and lead your team. I would have thought that the decision to sack the coach should have nothing to do with you anyway

You must have been watching a different interview as Nat agreed that he did not expected be consulted anyway and it was a Board decision.

He was asked if he was consulted and answered the question with no and I don't expect to be consulted as that is for the board and Dale Alcock to decide so yep you are spot on champ.

I think it is almost time shut this thread down, 80% of the posts are just Spinking looking for a bite.

I look forward to the next time Freo are back up somewhere near the top of the ladder (whenever that is is anyone's guess) and people like Rio and Spinking spruiking how they support WA football.

Your maths like your football team are sh.. . Go back to the start and count how many posts are credited to me. And if you want to keep defending the Fremantle football club so be it. Oh and Gilga go back to page 29 of this thread thereabouts and tell me who was one of the first to say well done Fremantle when they beat Geelong. Didn't see you saying to much, I suppose if you were a Dockers fan you would want this shut down on another dismall season by them

tried to like your post twice spinkster, but it wouldn't let me!!! hahaha I'm still waiting for the board to implode
They are the people who appointed the CEO,but suddenly its his fault for supporting the coach??? That's what a CEO has to do. Interpret what the board want and then go forward with absolute confidence....So those decision makers on teh board who work closely with the CEO/Footy department also need to be trimmed up.

When this happened i started looking at a few of the boards at footy clubs, and i was amazed at how a lot of them were so dearth of footy people!!!!!! Funny way to do things but it must work for some of the clubs

Text book response from "brand Fyfe" in the interview.
If I was being paid a mill + by my employer I wouldn't be dumping on them either.
So if the players loved the coach and many would say he was the best coach they ever had, why have they missed the eight and are averaging 7 goals a game ??
In all the Dockers losses this year RTB always managed to pump up "brand Fyfe" and his two "golden boy" high draft picks Brayshaw and Cerra. These were his lifelines to deflect the heat off his 31 win 92 loss record in the last 6 or so years.
"Brand Fyfe" was having 50 cents each way in his interview.
Maybe the love between "brand Fyfe" and RTB made Neale's decision to leave that much easier.
I know who is laughing loudest.

Have to appoligise mate, I have you and Detonators comments combined in to one.

Im just over seeing absolute pure crap like bagging Fyfe for saying something when he said exactly what you wanted him to say, a bit like saying 80% of the comments on here are crap form you, pure sh%& to suit ones argument.

No where here have I defended the Fremantle football club, I have purely attempted to point out that your comment bagging Fyfe is crap. And you pointing out you said well done Freo when they had a win and then wrongfully try and take a pot shot at the captain as soon as you thought you saw the chance just falls in line with my "I support WA football" stance.

Why would I come on here and say Yay after we beat Geelong? One win means jack, wall paper over a sh%$ storm and you would just cop it (rightfully) from all and sundry.

I have nothing to say because there is very little joy to be had from my football club and it has been that way for a long time. Even the year we topped the table after the regular season we were boring as bat sh%& to watch.

So i'm happy to wait and see how things work out, personally I feel we need far greater changes than have been made but as I have zero say on what actually happens down there and zero knowledge of what is happening just like everyone on here I will let time tell.

Gee i know this is a 2 team town, but the conversation is farkign boring....

One team struck it lucky, seized the moment and won a premiership(my team the Weagles). The other team got unlucky, seized the moment and recruited players who have broken down badly and re in deep 5hit(The dorkers)

On paper i expected the eagles to be hitting their straps this year or next, as the changing of the guard was completed with the slow blooding of the new guys....and the dockers to be well in front of them due to Fyfe, Bennell, B Hill, and their younger guys being more advanced than eagles, and added to with the recruits over the past 2 years......BUT it is nearly the exact opposite.

Going forward for the next 3 years the weagles will transition the old guard out and already have 50+ gamers to step in and fill the voids...they could be UP for a decade, if they recruit well ... Kelly etc

Whereas the dorkers have missed the boat, will struggle to retain rising stars, or attract new ones and could spend the next 5 years before they start moving forward!!!!!

Seriously feel sorry for the dorkers, another talented captain goign to go through a whole career supporting a club that at best manages the club in a very average way.

When my kids were born some 30+ years ago and we told people they were born in the Wanneroo Hospital, the response was " I wouldn't take a stray ct to that hospital to have her babies" Well the same will be being talked about by parents of young footballers. "The dockers are a rabble, i wouldn't let my two left footed child go there"

Take us out, we’re cooked. Even if Brisbane win tomorrow and save our asses I won’t be surprised if we go out in straight sets.

I'm not sure what is more satisfying, seeing the eagles dominated or hearing the frustration and anger from the weagles crowd. I think the crowd gets it for me

Freo supporters quietly loving this I suspect.

Downside is that my bombers may have to come here in 2 weeks.

Terrible tonight...after a very ordinary display last week when they were only close on the scoreboard, but not in the competition. They played with a lot of arrogance, but no desperation.

Hawks coaches, done a sensational job

This is our main problem. They’re going in expecting an easy game and then constantly on the back foot, it’s been happening all year.

There is no consistency. You can’t boot 5 in a row and then put the cue back in the rack and expect to cruise.

Played like a team who needs a two week break.
Hopefully we can rejuvenate and put in a four week block of A grade footy.
Hawthorn are a well drilled team that can rise to the occasion which they did tonight. Kudos to Clarkson and his team.
Season starts again in two weeks. Hopefully the boys have the hunger and the desire to give it their best shot.
I reckon there are lots of twists and turns to come. Can't wait to watch it unfold.

Didn't seem to have a winner anywhere.after the last derby which was played in rain the week after capitchulated like a harpooned whale to Collingwood. Seemed to be a bit the same last night after a hard fought game in the rain last weekend. . But hats off to hawks seemed more desperate at the ball .they seemed to be able to negate the Eagles possession style of footy. As you said Deto the break can't come quick enough for them

Gilgamesh old mate you are spot on I support WA footy 100% . When WA play any of the other football states I'm behind them.fremantle and the Eagles play in the AFL which has nothing to do with footy at state level, so to me the Dockers are just like any other club in the comp the enemy. So your support WA footy stance in that regard holds no relevance to me.but if you think that's judgemental just remember who N. Fyfe stated who he hoped would win last years big dance

Ahhh the old crack at the Eagles fans !!! More satisfying watching the frustration and anger at the Weagle fans. Seems to be a common theme in "tall poppy" W.A.
But your concession that as an Essendon supporter you have already conceded defeat in coming to Perth for the first week of the finals offsets any angst at your comment.
Surprising "white flag" admission considering your team came to Optus last year and towelled us up by 5 goals in our premiership year and also being towelled up by a team that has failed to make finals this year less than 24 hours ago.
    :D

Your right Tivers. He didn't concede. He was just showing his disappointment like all Victorian club supporters at the prospect of playing a final away from the home of Victorian football.
Interesting that the AFL are probably making the Eagles Essendon game on a Thursday night ?
They obviously acknowledge that it is fair for both clubs to give them maximum time for the winner to overcome the travel factor when they play in the next round.
But the travel factor is a myth....according to those that don't travel.

    Lighten up Kane.
You probably embarrassed yourself by being one of the Eagles supporters leaving early last night going "boo hoo" our premiership window is closed.
If you are embarrassed to be an Eagles supporter because I choose to stick it up our arch rivals in some tongue in cheek posts then you need to take stock.
