Suit up again i say.Consolation race looks open i didnt mind Ohoka Punters run in the last heat but has a sticky draw is it a good chance fellas?
Leaning to Major Crocker from a more favourable draw, Fav should lead hopefully? I'll Back the 10 save on Ohoka.

I reckon Handsandwheels will cross Ultimate Machete if anyone is going to.

Shannon Suvaljko - Maczaffair.. Clever. Very clever. 100/1 and straight to the front from barrier 6. Hands up and second placing is in the bag.

KUDOS; m.purdon always rated him superstar as a trainer, his driving ability gets questioned  at .g.p. so many good and aggressive drivers who race week in week out to hone there skills....Reckon after p.princess his gone out the carpark and slapped his own face gee after that his come back like voak and suvaljko rolled into one. no more pussyfooting good on him..

I hate races run and won on reputation. Absolutely the best horse probably won the race but over 2 seconds outside the track record, can you even call it a race?

I use to hate the Sokyola era of racing around Australia, I reckon any number of horses could gave beaten him on their day but Lance had built an aura around him that let him get away with 62 halfs and run home in 56.5, nothing is going to lose doing that.

Looking forward to tomorrow night and wgat looks a pretty competitive back half to the meeting.

3 seconds faster lead time and the horse causing that fights out the finish. Drivers are just so hell bent on going slow nowdays as they think they are giving their horse the best chance. A lot of the time they are actually giving them no chance as they leave them needing to run physically impossible times. Where as test their stamina which is what a standarbred has in ubundance and they might surprise you.

Jnr realised there was a speedy squib leading and decided to make a race of it on a tough old slug bull.....nearly pulled it off too. To be fair I don't think there were many others in the race that could have done that work and still been a the pointy end late.

Full credit to Lazarus- champion horse - thoroughly deserved victory - and well done to Mark Purdon too

Ive just good home and watched the replay - didnt have a bet in the race - and havent had a bet on the meeting

As for the beaten horses - i thought Soho Tribeca ran a mighty race under the circumstances - and  full credit to the horse

Kim Prentice - not one of my favourite drivers - because i think he can be a little  bit over confident at times - however he is a top class driver - and if you had a bloke driving for your life hed be one id want

However honestly he will be having nightmares over his drive tonight . I  posted earlier in the week that Purdon should try to keep the breeze at all cost - the breeze is a good spot with a strong horse at GP - and i said you dont want to get  shuffled back - and then come wide - when they will run 27 second closing qtrs - exactly like they did tonight

So Prentice at the start gets the breeze on his ear - so hes got 1st option to keep the breeze - your an experienced top line driver  mate - keep the bloody breeze - your on a strong stayer - no he gets shuffled back - then hooks out in the last lap behind Lewis horse ! .

The horse ran a mighty race - who knows what would have happened if he had kept the breeze - but i think it would have had a much better chance of winning - and given how Tiger Tara folded up at the finish  - ther will be plenty of what ifs in the Soho Tribeca camp

I think he is very very very fortunate that a Russell Roberts type doesnt own it - because there might be no tommorrow with it

What helped Gilgamesh was good old Ya's Ya's Hotspot and Devendra...they only have eyes for the front! They decided to spend their chips early. Junior summed up the situation very fast.

The drive on Devendra last couple, goodness gracious. Ya's Ya's Hotspot, reckon Bonsu would give him a run for his money. Would have a lot more stamina!

Great tip boys on Costa Del Magnifico! How he did he pay $12.60 and $3.30 ?!! Was almost a good thing beaten last Friday night. Hit the line flying then after being badly held up for a run. Tip top effort tonight too.

I took the $6 fixed early haha. Praise the punting lords for the gap as I put a wee bit more on. Bottom line is if a race is hard run I can work it out, if not im cactus.

Everyone is reading way too much into this.

My last tip on a trotting thread was Bashful Compton @ around $8 2 years ago.

Lazarus. When his career is all said and done will be up with the greatest ever. He is a 5 yr old coming into his prime. Won $2.7 MIl. 32 races from 37. Purdon left him home last year for this year.

Purdon can do as he likes from 2.

PLEASE  Just take the $2.50. It will be another 2years before I throw out another winner with this confidence.

    Lazarus just wins

    :-bd

I'm just going to leave this here
    :D  <:-P  O:-)

I'm going to the Bakery first thing tomorrow morning JJ. Have never bought a stickey bun in my life. Tomorrow I will indulge in one for you.

Gee I Love this Website, I don't normally follow the trots except around this year. I have listened to most of you over the last 2 years tell us all how good Laz is.   Then listen to you all talk about differing scenario's on how he could get beat.

A very old punting mate of mine who I love very much once told me.

Great Horses + Great Draws (his terms were barriers) + Great Trainers + great prices = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Never wiser words spoken to a young punter IMO.

The whole ten of them all ran well in the inters. The five bolters all acquitted themselves with distinction. Vulcan Tin just keeps going...he could have run another lap. Galactic Star - fantastic. Have Faith In Me was still battling away near the corner.

Shandale and San Carlo both ran as well as they could the way the race was run. Lenny The Shark was winding up for a place up the straight but got taken wide by the Bull. Lenny was gallant.

Huge run too The Bucket List had doubts after the early break , Grantham drove in style. The Bucket and Ohoka Punter both emergencies for the final were the two best heat runs last week of the horses who missed out on a start.

They were the improvers from the three heats..whereas a few like Ya's Ya's Hotspot, Devendra and Major Crocker the tough runs were starting to tell. The Bucket List only missed a start in the final by just two points. His run last week especially was very good when running on well.

Liked Adam Hamiltons work on the Inters...don't always agree on a few things ( don't have to! ) but when it comes to discussing and analysing the horses ( even though he wasn't right in the Lazarus corner ) he's the ultimate professional. The only thing missing was the Kiwi legend Mick Guerin.

Hayesy' did a good job too. Hall the same. Even though on track interviews before the race - nope not for me haha. The racetrack is for drivers and their steeds. Not for cameras and microphones...but I'm in the minority on this one!

Thought the run of Ameretto last night was extremely gutsy...after doing a power of work in the run put Eden Franco away only to be run down by the underrated Ideal Alice..a remarkable price $16 for a handy mare who has run against the best company.

Impossible to pick this...their were 11 b.o.g driving performances.

1 vote. Chris Alford - drove with aplomb on Aussie Delight and a couple of bolters.
2 votes. Mick Grantham - teriffic winning double and a rank outsider for a place.
3 votes. Gary Hall Jnr. - three back pegs Ideal Alice...he's a master driver.
4 votes. Ryan Warwick - $126 chance - drove to perfection.
5 votes. Mark Purdon - best race in Australasia to win - victory was his.

Special mention to Shannon Suvaljko...no better driver have seen than getting horses out of the mobile barrier..his timing and anticipation are as good as it gets.

He left little doubt that their was only going to be one horse that could cross Ultimate Machete and that was Maczzafair...in a matter of seconds in front and in another blink sitting on the $1.20 favourite. He seized the initiative on a 100/1 chance.

Flagrant breach of the rules by Purdon. Disadvantaged several runners to gain an advantage outside the rules for himself in a Group 1. Should have received a 20 K fine and 3 months.
