But as he isn’t there’s no differentiation between the 2 in early markets, I would has it a guess there are bets at the $101 where people are thinking they are on the Aussie version when in tact they are not.

Waterhouse on . . .
A Royal Ascot win
It would be the pinnacle. It's the world stage and would be like going and winning at the Breeders' Cup. Everyone in racing in Australia watches Ascot, everyone.
Fielding big offers
It happens in New Zealand and it's the same in Australia. The moment a horse of ours wins a nice race, Hong Kong is straight on the phone. So straight away, like the English, we're under pressure and have to tell the owners the offer has come in and they have to make an executive decision: do they race the horse with us or take the money?
Racing and bettingReally, the whole reason for racing is it's a gambling industry and it really needs to be promoted that way. We live in a woke environment where everything has to be perfect - but that's not life.
Being the very best
When I chose to be a trainer I thought I'm not going to be anything but a champion trainer and if I can't do that I don't want to do it.

I thought I was just getting old and grumpy.

“One problem we have also met is the prevention of taking food into courses. Travelling by train to some courses may entail a 12-hour day. We have taken food with us often in the past, sometimes merely to supplement food purchased there.

"Now we have seen on websites that 'food is strictly forbidden' or will be 'confiscated.' We drove to Leicester for a quiet, poorly attended fixture this March. We were prevented from entering at 11.30 as my wife had our lunch in her bag. We had to eat it then, standing up in the cold, or return to our car."

Derek Moran warned: "The older generation does not whine about changes it finds unattractive, it votes with its feet and finds other activities.

"It is not just the merging of enclosures and withdrawal of offers that I find negative. Do we need the blaring music? Few sectors value the custom of the older generation.”

John Boswell said: “I wholeheartedly agree with your observations and comments and I can probably be included in the ‘gone missing’ category”, while Kevin Parr wrote: “As a racegoer who in the past used to attend up to 80 meetings per year, I hardly go now as some of the admission prices are ridiculous for the quality of product on offer.”

Evans, who first shared his views in the club's newsletter, also received a thumbs up from Great British Racing chief executive Rod Street, who appreciates pensioners' value to the sport.

"There’s no question we've got capacity in the fixture list to reach out to audiences like that and to come up with offers and concessions to get them in," he said.

"They can be great advocates. We know from all our research that most people’s first experience of racing is through being brought along by a family member or a friend. That older market definitely has a role to play as ambassadors and influencers for the sport.

"I think that racing has to have a rethink about its total offering and segmenting its market. It feels at the moment that the door is ajar with racecourses when it comes to really thinking about how we want to develop our customers in the coming years. I think the points that Phil Evans makes are timely."

RP Reports
They go together like Red Rum and McCain, Lillee and Thomson, Yorke and Cole - but could we be witnessing the end of the Frankie Dettori-John Gosden partnership after seven fruitful years?
They’ve given us some of modern racing’s greatest moments with the likes of Golden Horn, Enable and Stradivarius, but now one of racing’s most successful relationships looks to be on the rocks.
Yesterday it was revealed Gosden and his son Thady wouldn’t be using the three-time champion jockey's services this weekend, with James Doyle and Robert Havlin being booked for the yard’s rides at Newmarket instead.
This follows a difficult Royal Ascot for Dettori, who was openly criticised by Gosden snr for his ride on Stradivarius in the Gold Cup.
'Whatever John and Thady have done, we'll all have to move on'

And the 51-year-old’s racing manager Peter Burrell said the pair have received no contact from the Gosdens regarding the decision.
He said: “Frankie rang up the Gosden office this morning to discuss riding plans for the weekend as he usually does but didn't get a call back. We're in the dark as much as anyone else which is a strange position to be in.
"We only have questions, not answers. We know absolutely nothing so we'll have to put the jigsaw together ourselves. Whatever John and Thady have done, we'll all have to move on with.”Gosden had initially lamented the tactics used by Dettori on Stradivarius in dropping back through the field and having to switch wide in the straight when short of room. In response to the defeat, the eight-year-old's owner-breeder Bjorn Nielsen said: "You can't blame the horse here."
Is this the beginning of the end? Maybe - but you can never write Frankie off.Betfair have made Hollie Doyle their odds-on favourite to be John and Thady Gosden's next number one rider in response to the speculation around Frankie Dettori's role with the Clarehaven operation.Doyle, who became the first female rider to win a European Classic that holds Group 1 status when riding Nashwa to victory for the Gosdens in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly last weekend, is 4-11 to be next to get the coveted gig.Betfair head of racing PR Barry Orr said: "With John Gosden having spoken so effusively about Hollie Doyle and her considerable talent on more than one occasion, she is a red-hot favourite to land the plum job."Irish champion jockey Colin Keane is also an interesting proposition, but it could take a lot to lure him away from Ger Lyons."'She's hugely talented'Gosden spoke highly of Doyle after she guided Nashwa to Prix de Diane glory at Chantilly last weekend. After the race, Gosden said: "The owner-breeder of Nashwa, Imad Al Sagar, said to me two or three years ago he had a few jockeys he was looking at and wanted to retain one."He showed me the list and I said 'Hollie Doyle', and I know other people would back me on that."She's hugely talented and horses run for her. She's incredibly meticulous and hard-working and she analyses things properly."

To be honest i despise this race. A lot are coming off synthetic track form, if it was a sprint distance then takes the synthetic out of it almost ,staying distance no . Suspect i will not bet .

R4: Without Thinking will appreciate a good track ,all previous runs on a good track would see him winning this race .

R5: The Big Goodbye looks like its almost a good thing, the form around it via mid week meeting has held up, But NoT for for me ,im sticking with Eloquently .will appreciate this track and is slightly underrated, from this gate will be very very hard to catch .

R6: Oriental Princess, has been scratched that may times for her first up run i have lost count. Would need to grow a few legs to beat some of these classy filly's . i love a leader and around Ippy it helps

R7: Chakana another staying race, would prefer not to bet , but her run was a bit of an eyecatcher.

R8: Gospodin . Whatever you back here you should be getting overs ,barriers has sent me this way, could be a huge speed battle for the lead .

R9: Majestic Shot was slightly ripped off last run ,lot of improvement in her.
Love the race, the track on the other hand is a graveyard thankfully most of the time in this contest the genuine star gallopers run up to form and best of them win.

Who wins this year? i had Zaaki over the line 9 days ago does he deserve a pass/forgive on the Caulfield run when "only" 3rd, it was far from rubbish but he just didnt win looked a little flat, i actually didnt think he was super impressive at 1800 on the same track either.Mentioned it once before he may actually be a bit better clockwise but definitely can't be dismissed if he is on song, JMAC going on is helpful and speed on will suit him too.

Anamoe is very very good just don't know if he will be strong at the end,.into 3.80 now geez not sure he is a bet at those odds...can win and 49.5 advantages the good ones every so often.

Verry Elleegant lost some gloss too(probably more than Zaaki)and i have a slight query on her at The Valley anyway.Love her with a passion as a horse and she has been a gun for years here, am not sure i could be with her in this field at this track. Those factors and considering the Turnbull run when beaten clearly plus no Jmac hurts her chances a lot imo i'm not quite D.Lane's no 1 fan, in all a lot of negatives so i have written her off almost completely .

I reckon Mo'unga is over the odds saw as much as $29 boosted that's a big price.e.g Captivant is 4 points shorter WTF is with that.

Haven't checked the weather forecast, hope it's dry or just into the soft at worst. Will make up my mind later in the week or Saturday though i must have a little dip at Mo'unga. 29 dollars is good value for a twice group 1 winner(once at the trip)and a big run ensued when half butchered in the Epsom 3 weeks ago.Goes fine the Melbourne way and will get his preferred race shape, speed on!

Very moving Anzac Day ceremony.

The facilities are excellent and I highly recommend anyone who is in S.A when they have a meeting, go.

The two bookies are ensconced, I always wanted to use that word, inside a building which houses a dining room and tote, in airconditioned comfort.

The bookies, Warren Barrington who has to be in his 80's and still looks like the last time I saw him 4 years ago, and Curly Seal, whose died jet black hair disguises his age very well, did a brisk business betting on three meetings.

In fact, there were times when there were ques lined up to bet with them. Unfortunately, they and a couple of others, are the last of the Mohicans, and I can foresee no bookies, unless Curly keeps going, in another five years in South Australia.

All in all,it was a relaxing, day out, and if things work out for next year, we will be back.
